I’m Camey Carson (it’s a pen name), and I write cozy mysteries set among the lakes, springs, and pine forests of north central Florida. Take a minute to step into what seems like simpler times in small towns where everyone knows everyone’s business, and they are willing to lend a hand.

The first Friday of every month, the charming town of Melrose, Florida, has an art walk. The galleries are open, live music frequently fills the air, and a variety of artists display their work in the various venues.

The 11/7/25 art walk at Mossman Hall featured something I’d never seen. Instead of painters, jewelry designers, sculptors, and other traditional artists, they created Art of the Book, a showcase for authors and illustrators.

Our books and work were framed for wall art, and they were proudly displayed. Thank you, Tom Sensible, for thinking up this brilliant idea, and thank you to everyone who joined me that evening.
